Demilitarized Dishes

I have an unsightly habit of allowing dishes done by hand to dry on the counter for quite a long period of time before I put them away.

I realized recently that this may not be for the seemingly obvious reason that I'm lazy. But instead, I think I don't want to admit that the washing I gave the dishes is all that will sanitize them before they are used again. As if the time they sit waiting to be put away on the demilitarized
counter is the final, critical, magic phase in readying them for human use again...

Apple Tabernacle

I wish I could've captured the 6 aisles of apples at Berkeley Bowl in all their expansive and technicolor awe - but my poor photo skills mixed with a little embarrassment about public camera phone use resulted in this little number.

I'm starting to understand how this town cultivates foodaphiles. A trip to Berkeley Bowl is often more of an experience than a chore. It's more of a bizaar than a supermarket. Weekly visits to Berkeley Bowl and occasional pilgrimages to the Gourmet Ghetto - where the laws of good taste (literally - in the lingual sense) rule - might convince even the staunchest non-believer.

Punk Isn't

In effort to kick this blog off with as few karmic hiccups as possible, I'll just go ahead and disclose that this isn't really my blog.

John and I got this domain name for his mom, Nancy.

You see, when John's brother was young, and wanted to dress as a punk rocker for Halloween, Nancy colored and spiked his hair and dutifully made him a shirt that stoically stated "Punk Isn't". The first time I saw a photo of this little get-up I fell in love with this heady, self aware pink punk declaration.

So when Nancy's foray in to the digital journalistic ether was a little slow, I took my opportunity to co-opt her space.

To continue on in the spirit of full disclosure, you should probably be made aware that Nancy is a very good writer. A much better writer than me...

So a blog that started with promises of steady existential blow, instead will serve up some swaggy mex ramblings from an unreliable connection. Enjoy.

Who's Afraid of Blogging?

As usual, I've been overthinking this whole blogging phenomenon in an effort to steel myself for my first blog entry. Well I haven't figured anything out but I thought I'd break the analysis paralysis (as Christophe sez).

In an effort to skip out of a well worn cerebral groove - cycling through - Who's a blogger? Why are they? Why do they? Why would I? Instead, I'll write...

Who are all these bloggers anyway? Do they have personality types that delight in attention? Do they know that the world will be a better place if even just one person reads their thoughts and ideas? Are they afraid of "real" interpersonal interactions, so they instead live
vicariuosly thru this electronic medium? None of these sound like me. To me at least...

I look forward to having a medium to gather my thoughts and experiences - experiences that consist of images, thoughts, friends, music - and by sharing those experiences, adding a new dimension to those experiences. That's all. I think.
